Bomb Farm Skill Tree
Spend Abilities on bottlenecks, not on every shiny node.
The Abilities tab is Bomb Farm’s account-wide skill tree. Stream On describes it as a huge tree of upgrades and unlocks for the entire team, inspired by Path of Exile, with dozens of nodes. That sentence is the design brief. This page is how you spend it without stranding your first week of gold.
The tree is not a per-hero talent board. Hero ability ranks (the 20 skills that each go from 1 to 10) live on the Heroes tab and are covered in hero roles. Abilities, the tree, is the farm itself: gold, slots, unlocks, and team-wide multipliers.
Open the tab with a question
Do not open Abilities because you have leftover gold. Open it because Battle or House told you a specific lie:
- “I cannot park the third squad.” That is a slot or House-capacity problem. Check House energy first, then look for slot nodes.
- “The grid is fine but gold is dry.” Look for gold or loot nodes, not a damage cluster you will not feel on Easy.
- “Dawn Quarry is done and Deep Roots will not open.” Confirm the Map bar in progression before you assume a tree gate.
- “My +4 gear feels like +0.” That is Ritual, documented in gear, not a tree bug.
If none of those sentences is true, leave the tree alone and run another Battle.
How a Path of Exile-style tree usually fails idle players
PoE trees punish curiosity. A pretty node at the edge can cost a week of points and give you a mechanic you do not own yet. Bomb Farm’s version is smaller, but the failure mode is the same: spreading points so no bottleneck actually moves. Community testers already noted that account skills such as more gold and more slots are expensive on purpose. That matches a long Map. Five worlds and 600 stages are not a weekend.
Spend in spines, not in stars. Pick one account job for a few days — gold, slots, or a Map unlock — and walk toward it. Screenshot your path. If a later patch refunds points, you will care. If it does not, you still have a record.
What we will not invent
This wiki does not publish a fake notable-name atlas. Stream On has not posted a public node list with exact values, and we will not hallucinate “+12% resin” clusters. When you hover a node in the client, believe the tooltip. When a season changes the tree, the Updates Hub will catch it.
Until then, use these tests:
- A node that unlocks a tab, slot, or world is worth more than a small percentage.
- A node that only helps Inferno is a trap on Easy.
- A node that mentions a role you do not own yet is a bookmark, not a purchase.
Pairing the tree with three squads
Because you can switch three teams, tree bonuses that say “your squad” usually mean whoever is in Battle right now. That is good. Park a Collector-heavy team on a farm node, swap an Attacker-heavy team onto a boss-looking tile, and keep the tree bonuses global. Role mixes are ranked on the tier list and the squads tier.
Do not build three different trees. You cannot. Build one account and three rosters.
Suggested early order
- Whatever node is blocking a second or third House slot.
- Gold or loot only after Battle is actually dropping things you can spend.
- Quality-of-life (recovery, inventory) once you have felt the friction for a day.
- Endgame branches after Normal feels free in Deep Roots.
If you are following Getting Started on day one, you may spend zero tree points and still be playing correctly. Ritual and House are greedier sinks in the first hour.
Respecs and seasons
Official marketing calls Bomb Farm seasonal. We have not seen a guaranteed full refund button in the store copy. Play as if points are sticky. If a season reset arrives, seasons will say so. Until then, avoid experimental forks just to see a particle effect.
The tree is also the fairest power in the game: it is account-wide, it is not a loot box, and it is not a Steam listing. Official copy says they never sell power. If a shop ever offers a node skip, treat it as a policy change and re-read the review.
When the tree and Ritual fight for the same gold, pay Ritual for the pieces on your active dock, then pay the tree. A +10 helmet on a bomber you actually send out beats a distant notable you will not walk to this week.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is the Bomb Farm skill tree per hero?
No. Abilities is an account tree for the whole team. Per-hero ranks (1 to 10 on 20 abilities) sit on the Heroes tab.
Should I fill the whole tree?
Not in week one. Walk one spine that solves a House, gold, or Map bottleneck. See How to Play.
Do I respec often?
Assume points stick until seasons say otherwise. Screenshot your path.
Skill tree or Ritual first?
Ritual on equipped gear first, then tree nodes that unlock slots or gold. Details in gear.
